Grin Swap of painted parts complete!

Greetings,

As you may recall, last fall the topic of swapping the Metallic Carbon Grey parts off of the 2015 Vaquero (Nadia) for the 2012 Candy Lime Green Vaquero (Rita) was discussed.
Well the parts swap is complete! We now have two one-of-kind Vaqueros! (Is that even possible? )
A 2012 in Carbon Grey, and a 2015 In Candy Lime Green/Ebony with ABS and JBR's 10" bagger bars!

The Bagger Bar could have easily been another two inches, as there is plenty of hose and wire length remaining. The 10" bagger bars and the new RDL will take a little getting accustomed to. The reach is definitely different! The bagger bars are not pre-drilled for the switch housings. That is kind-of OK, because the first placement, was not the right fit. Now on the second 'fitment', they are probably closer to "right-for-me". Will do a couple more short rides to verify, then lock it all down permanently.

So, here she is "Narita" (Na-Rita). The 2015 in Candy Lime clothing.

SWEET, Love those grips. Bar clearance looks really nice. And green just where you need it, Very nice looking

You got some big kuhoonas, pulling the inner fairing. I would never be able to pull that off. At least not without extra parts when I was done, and a couple of wrenches stuck in the wall.

Nicely done. And BTW the Corbin is Really nice, Thanks

Awesome. Mine is the 2012 S.E. model too. I love those handle bars thinking of going black Z bars like those. Where did you find those and how much and were you able to leave all the hoses and cables stock and the length of the bar from clamp to the upper bend is?? I also notice you switched out the engine guards to black, something I just did as well love the look. I have ordered the rear bag guards in black as well waiting for them nice upgrade. I painted the tank console on top to gloss black that made a nice difference too and painted the headlight shroud to gloss black, but on yours love the lighting upgrades nice touch. On your handle bars the black grips make real nice touch as well.

Razz Details and observations

Greetings,

The JSR bars were ordered here, from eBay for $200. There were no changes needed to hoses or cables other than undoing the factory ties and re-ZIP tying in slightly different locations. The bars are pre-drilled for internal wiring, however, didn't want to go through that (Pun intended).

The black crash bars were already on the '15, so they just stayed. The black Kinetic's were a move over from the stock bars, as were the mirrors. I *was* slowly trying to "murder" the Grey bike with black parts. May still get the Pro Pipe (Not on yet) ceramic coated in black... The LED headlight project done last winter involved the black mounting ring, again part of the murder the bike project.

We kept the black tank bezel from the '15 as it is smooth, whereas the '12 tank bezel is course. So those parts did not switch bikes.

I do need to post CLEARANCE pictures, with the bars at full stop. With the bars UP, the reservoirs will make contact with the shield. Had to pull the bars down a bit to clear the windshield. This ended up being OK, as I am "reaching" for the bars more than I did with the stock bars. The JSR bagger bars are very good looking. Clean welds, clean powder-coating, wire holes, knurling, etc. The JSR bagger bars are also wider at the grips. Don't care what the numbers state, hands are further apart. If the bars were 2" less/narrower in the clamp area and two inches longer/taller in the rise, for me they would be AWESOME. *Keep in mind there is less than a 100 miles of saddle time with this set-up. So opinion/observation may change.

The inner fairing really wasn't that bad. Once the outer shell is off and the six bolts that hold the fairing frame to the bike are removed, it's just wiring harness. LOTS of wiring harness. Would have been nice for there to have been a connector right there, but of course there isn't. Sorry, I suck, should have taken a picture of that particular area when it was disassembled... (At the neck where all the harnesses run into the faring.) It was a TWO person job for sure! My son pulled and held the faring frame and feed harnesses through the inner shell, while I tried to maneuver and finagle the inner shell in and out without scratching, catching or snagging.

Thanks for the comments guys!
Ride safe,
Smokier

Whats the plan on the controls? Are you thinking Cut the tabs on the controls or Drill the bars?

Greetings MBarr,

Removed the tabs with a dremel and added a wrap of friction tape at the contact point.

Ride safe,

Exclamation Mark Update

For those interested in the JSR 12" bars and fit on a '15 Vaquero (with ABS).

The Scootworks Phat II 4 inch risers (+2 inch over stock) and the 12" JSR bagger bars will work together!

Took the Phat II's and remounted them. Now the bars are up and back enough to be more comfortable without arching the back or stretching way out to get to them.
They are wider than the stock.

You do have to re-route the clutch hose to the 'inside' of the triple tree for the hose to reach.
*If you take the clutch handle off, you can work the clutch reservoir through the fork tube and frame without scratching anything. Then the hose has enough slack to reach comfortably.
Wires and cables (throttle) are long enough to not need re-routing.
At this point BOTH the front brake hose and clutch hose are behind the triple tree, not in front of the triple tree. Stop to stop turns do not stretch or bind the hoses.

Thought this might be informational.
Ride safe,
Smokier

I like those JSR bars may look into a set of those as I have always wanted black ones with the "Z" bend. Thanks for the tip. The rear bag guards I have had to wait longer as they were back ordered, looks like quite a few owners are switching those out from the chrome ones. They will arrive on Tuesday next week finally. I will take a few updated photos to post.
