over Heating suspect Water Pump

I have been having F1 led come on -- when I slow My 2008 Nomad 1600 down to 40Mph the F1 light goes out -- Speed up to 50Mph or higher F1 lights up again.

I have added a toggle Switch that I can use to turn on Radiator Fan Manually and this makes no difference? This has started happening on my last two rides. To get back Home from my last 120 mile Ride i had to slow down and stop frequently turning engine off.

How hard is to access the Water Pump to check the Impeller condition and to be sure it is turning. I have flushed the cooling System -- maybe I should go this again??

When it is overheating my Radiator overflow Container fills up and when it cools down the antifreeze returns to the Radiator normally.

Anyone had this condition and know the resolution?

Thanks,

Ron

I have just spent a few hours going through my Service Manual and noted if it was overheating or Oil Pressure problem there would have been secondary indicators in the LCD Display which I was not noting.

So looks like I will be grounding the Yellow Wire near the Battery to get the Codes stored in the ECM then look in the DFI part of the Shop manual hopefully to find leads as to what could be the source.

Been riding my Nomad for several years with 113,551 Kilometers or 70,559 Miles on it and never had this type of problem requiring me to dig this deep.

I would still like to know how to get to water Pump in case I need to check it.

The Hunt Goes On,

Ron

Yes it could. Or a fan swItch not workIng They are both on the bottom of the radiator, and easy to confuse. I fitted them both, off a Honda XL250. on ebay. the rad cap is 1.2 bar pressure. I dentical, but a fraction of Kawasaki prices.

No mate. At home, recuperating. I am going to have to fix the bike up, and sell it though. I cant see me being able to ride it again. My balance, and co-ordination, is all to fuck. I got one of those electric spastic scooters to get around on. Not quite the same pulling up at the pub, But hey, i am lucky to still be alive.
