Vapor Lock?

Hi all Vulcaneers,

Weird deal: Hot engine (here in FLA or any hard ride)... sometimes when I shut her down (2002/now 2005) Drifter, she just won't wanna start. Crank, crank, crank, etc. It was the same with the original 1500 engine, now STILL with the 1500 from a 2005 Classic FI.

Originally, I'd change into new plugs and the problem went away for a year or so.

(Original engine puked at about 70K, replaced engine, wiring harness, etc with a crashed '05 Classic with only 11K). Runs great, about 5K on her since the switcheroony.

Sigh. It started hard starting again. So, again as before, I changed out the plugs. Fires great as cold start, but....

It did it to me yesterday with the new plugs!

A friend suggested that it may be vapor lock? Anyone out there in virtual Vulkanland have similar issues?

I had a 2002 Nomad also that never did this, just my Drifter. Huh.

Thanks in advance. Ride safe.

Try running the bike with a quarter of tank with the gas cap off to rule out a vapor lock/vent line blockage ?

Dirty injectors will leak when you stop and the plugs will get saturated. Add about 2oz of an injector cleaner and it may clean them and stop the leak.
