Scott, If I wouldn't already know that you have this tire mounted on your bike, I would wager with anyone that it would not fit! That tire is huge....

Think over hard, doing a swing arm service.... You won't want to later.

Well yeah the book says 7,000, so you are 1,000 miles from it, and with a new CT going on you may as well.
However so long as rthe U joint was good and there is nothing you can do about it much anyway, other than replace it, and the last time it was good. it was right? Then you can concentrate on cleaning and greasing the bearings, and the spacers and for kicks the bearings in the tops of the shocks. Once a CT goes on there is little reason to go back in there. By dropping and not turning the swing arm you can still pack the drive shaft splines on both ends with moly lube as well, and inspect the rear end pinion shaft for signs of gear oil. I would since getting the tire out is half way to there any way. The drive shaft thing the first time is most important since these come flawed from the factory. The thing I dread most being here is a guy who refuses the first 7,000 mile check and has no idea his drive shaft will lock up arouund 23,000 if it is a bad one. It could kill a guy and mash the engine tranny and even the gears. if it happens and one day it will, the rear end will snap around and be first. I don't care if I tell a guy 1,000 times and he replies a 1,000 times I was just there, or I have been there xx.xxx miles ago... One day someone cheating on service in that area will die.. In this type of failure it happens so fast there is no time to pull In the clutch and even if there was it woiuld already have smashed either the engine or the tranny.. No one including me is going to want to do a swingarm after a CT goes on, so in some ways this could be the last time. For me it is the last time till I need another CT. OR I decide to play with swing arm slop in my get rich fast scheme, along with garden sticks for plotting the plants from cit off rough 2x4's I am making now and the killer worms I am growing. I found a hand full of lousey earth worms last year and tossed em in the strawberry patch. While weedin' I found they became monsters, large enough to beat up a farm raise trout! So I made 4 worm beds I call Houses.. and put 4 crawlers in each one. With Billy Mays gone I am set now... 4 crawlers will each make more, and so 4 + more+ more the new ones make will be more ++ and so pretty soon I will have ++ more +++ see? yeah do the swing arm since you will be there....

i should have told you to lift the new tire up and in it has to sort of go around a bend.. I was alone and am not the biggest guy around...
So I set the axel in place, just enough to hold the right side spacer, and sitting on the floor raised the tire on my knees. I sent it around the corner guided with my hands, but not really lifting.. When it was right I sent the axel in deeper, so I could get the left side spacer on the axel and then sent it home. 0 psi doing that will help. Somewhere ariound doing this all you might be wise to spin the air stem right around 180 degrees. I always hated the low side on the stand to air up the rear tire. And a Dunlop has either a yellow or a green target like "Light Dot" aline that with the valve stem.
