Getting excited

My Venture trunk and Wompus rack are supposed to get painted this week! I talked to the boys that are painting them for me and they said they were supposed to get the booth this week to do the job. I can't wait!

Plus, talked to the sister of one of my former students and she said her brother wants to pinstripe the bike for me! How cool is that? I just hope I can get it all finished and ready for the rally run.

Now I just have to wait patiently...

What is it going to cost you for paint?

Well, paint supplies were $230 and the fee for the use of the school booth was $3.50, labor is FREE, but I will hook them up with something for their efforts.

We matched up the paint at a local paint supplier and it seems to be pretty darned close and one heck of a lot cheaper than Color Rite, which would have been close to $450!

The boys are going to put down a bunch of coats of paint and clear...heck, they told me how many of each but it was all Greek to me. As long as it ends up looking decent I'll be happy. They are doing the side panels red and the middle the dark burgundy. The rack will be dark burgundy also.

I'll probably have the backrest recovered too if I can't get it looking good. May also have the upholsterer put some extensions on the backrest so they are arm rests if the wife wants them.

Thats a bargain, I was quoted $2200.00 to paint the bike 3yrs ago, that included the fairing, tour pak and lowers.
