NOMAD ACCESSORIES

Well the Kawasaki official site doesn't show any accessories yet. But I read an article that said by mid to late Summer the following would be added...
- a gel seat (I pray this one is accurate)
- a rear trunk
- a lower guard rail for the saddle bags (would be a GREAT place to mount additional stop/marker signals)

As for non-official Kawasaki accessories, I've added Kuryakyn grips, J+M CB/Weather band radio and a Garmin Zumo 550 (with XM radio and LIVE traffic updates). That combination for long trips is great. I can listen to XM radio, talk with other riders or truckers, catch weather and traffic, find gas/food/lodging and call ahead for reservations...or turn them off and listen to that very healthy grumble.
Life can be good!
Marty

Seems like they are offering saddlebag liners at $52 apiece. I am going to wait for the aftermarket to catch up to get a more competitive price. For my own non-official accessories. I have tinted the lowers and bottom of the windshield blue, Whompus 4 bar luggage rack (looks good, sturdy and is easy to install.) Speakers and ampliphyer for the FM radio and my Ipod , Ram mount for my Garmin and accessory plug to power everything. (I thought I was being clever when I hooked the amp to the battery and the accessory to the keyed switch but I thing now I will reverse it. so I can recharge things when the bike isn't turned on.

Which Kuryakyn grips did you buy? I looked on their web sight and they "officially" don't have anything for the 1700 Nomad/Voyager.

I too have a question -- does anyone know of a site that one can get a back rest for the rider on the new 1700's?

This is a great place to put up 1700 unique accessories as we find them. With the current paucity of accessories we can build a mini-reference library of what we have found.

Hi petenrudy
Can you show a picture of your bike? I am interested in adding speakers and either a radio of ipod holder but do not know where to start. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Clyde

Another post on accessories. I was at my dealer today looking up the light bar accessory. They are now in stock in Canada at $585. I wonder what the American price is as the price for the motorcycle is about $3000 cheaper. If someone from the USA can find out and post here that would be interesting to me. The dealer also said that a trunk is now available. Where can I fine a luggage rack? i do not know this Whompus brand or where to find it. Another shop that deals with aftermarket items said there was no luggage rack for the 1700 yet.

http://wompusracks.com I have mine on the bike and it took about 30 minutes to install (15 minutes if your cleverer than I) . Sturdy enough to take about anything you want to put on it, including a trunk box.

90279.2 in reply to 90279.1

I ordered a Cobra Lightbar today for my Nomad. Part #04-0465. Listed on their sight for the 1700 Classic but read the install instructions which states it's for the Classic/Nomad. Called Cobra and they confirmed that this bar is for either bike.

I would like to get a new windshield next that's slightly wider and maybe 2" taller. but can't find one specific to the 1700 Nomad. Rifle lists one, but uses the same part number for the 1600's and 1700's which I'm not sure is correct since our biles only have 4 windshield bolts and the 1600 has 6? I had a Clearview Shields windshield on my '02 1500FI and loved it. But Clearview tells me it may be a year before they make one for the new Nomad. Ugh!

Thanks Guys. I just joined the Forum and was looking a luggage rack. I think the Wompus unit is just what I was looking for. Keep adding the new assc. as you find them.

Thanka again

It looks like the Wompus rack for the 1700 only comes in black. Anyone know of a chrome rack? I've been looking, but haven't found one yet.

If you want a chrome Wompus rack, order one and ask Wompus not to powdercoat it. He'll ship you one in a bare metal finish and you have to take it to a plater and get it chromed.

Go to the Karyakyn web site and look up Kawasaki. It uses the same universal grip made for most non-Harley and non-Handa bikes

Hey Doug, did you get it yet? Curious if there are any problems with the fit on the 1700 Nomad and how difficult/easy it is to do.
Thanks
