Very Important Detail Question

I have a VERY IMPORTANT detailing question for the group......I was detailing the bike today and looking at the cooling fins on the jugs......when new what color were the edges of the fins.....were they polished and have just gotten dirty, or were they painted black......thanks for the important feed back from the group.......and also what size the the hex opening on the spark plug tunnel...the front wheel tool is too small?
