Bikes from your past

Someone has some bikes from his past in his sig pics, and I thought they were cool so I started this thread to show bikes from your past.

One of my favorites from my past is this V-65

Then my little brother got one too.

But it didn't end well for me when I met up with this left turner.

What are the bikes from your past that you have photos of?

I don't have many pictures of previous bikes I'm afraid. I did find these of my Goldwing with sidecar. Had a lot of fun on this when my boys were small.

Traded it for an MG B back in the mid 80s.

Bikes from your past

Here's my 2005 Suzuki C50T, the bike I traded in to buy my 2007 Nomad. I don't know if I have pictures of any previous bikes, I wasn't as diligent about taking pictures back in the 70's.

The bike I owned before this one I bought in 1978, when I was stationed at MCAS El Toro. I had no wheels and used to ride the bus around Orange County (NOT COOL), so I was walking past the parking area at the barracks one day and I see a bike with a sign that said "for sale - cheap". I found the guy selling it and he was shipping out to Okinawa at the end of the week. So I bought a 1973 HD XL1000 Sportster for $500. I kept this bike until just after I got married in 1980. I sold it to get a down payment for a car.

The bike before that I bought in 1976 and sold it when I joined the Marines in 1977. My buddies and I all had dirt bikes and we used to ride them everywhere. More than once we had to ditch them and hide from the sheriff because we got caught doing donuts on the school lawn.

the Honda CR250M Elsinore

This was my first "real" bike. My dad went halves on me with it. I mowed lawns all summer to save up $150 (my half). I think I was about 13 or 14.

The mighty Hodaka Combat Wombat

Before the Hodaka, I started out on a "Tote Gote", a kind of minibike on steroids that was geared real low and could just about climb a wall. My dad bought it for $50 with the idea of using it for hunting. I had a different idea. He finally bought me a used JC Penney "Penncraft" 3.5HP minibike that I broke because I jumpred it too much.

Okay...you asked for it..i don't have pics of the actaul bike for the first two that I owned or the most current that I am picking up next week...So I'll just throw in generic ones. :)

Zoomed all over Okinawa on this little baby...good times!

Had a soft spot for Katanas..

My Fizzy met an untimely demise due to an inattentive Minivan driver. :(

Could corner like no other ..

Viffer was wonderful..but I missed the liter sized engine.

One bad ass cruiser...I just needed to stretch to much to reach everything.

Holy torque Batman!!

One more week...she'll be mine.

This is fun, keep them coming. I'll see if I can find some generic pics of other bikes that I had, but don't have photos of.

A lot of us took a pretty winding course getting to a Nomad.

Here's my 1986 Aspencade in 2007 when it had 156,000 miles on it up for sale in March after I had bought the Nomad.

Bikes from your past

My riding started out on a 1972 Honda XL 250 that I bought when I was 14 in 1979 with money from an after school job.

All my friends had CR's, RM's, and YZ's. Their parents bought their's, and I had to take what I could pay for myself. But I wanted to do the riding that they were doing, so first thing I did was strip off all the lights etc. off the XL

I jumped the hell out of the bike. I'd jump so much that the pegs would break off from hard landings. I'd go to the farmer who had a welder, and get them welded back on. I did that a few times. I eventually traded it for a Plymouth Barracuda.

My next bike was in High School. It was a 1979 Yamaha 650 Special. It would tend to vibrate everything off of it, so I'd spend a lot of time tightening stuff back up. I was the only person in my High School with a street bike, so I spent a lot of time chasing chicks on it. So there are some very good memories on that bike :)

Here's a CR 480 that I got right after wrecking the V-65. In deference to my wife's feelings, I stayed off the streets till we divorced. I finally had a bike capable of doing what I wanted to be doing way back on the XL 250, and I did it with gusto.

Found a picture of the first bike I ever owned. Always rode friends and relatives bikes throughout my childhood, but bought this Yamaha Enduro when I was in High School. Not a pic of my actual bike, but this one is identical to mine.
