Dunlop E3 Tire Noise

I replaced the stock rear tire with a Dunlop Elite 3 radial and it seems much louder than the stock tire. Sounds like my truck tires sometimes. Seems louder around 40mph All of you E3 owners, have you noticed this? I'm running 40psi in It and it doesnt feel like its not balanced correctly.

Dunlop E3 Tire Noise

I have one on the front. It starts to get noisy between about 60 to 65 mph and quiets down as I approach 70, has done this since new. Now after about 1500 miles on the tire it started getting noisy in the curves too.

Different tread patterns will make a different noise. I run Michelins front and rear, after having Metzlers for years (which had a different road noise), and noticed right away the Michelins make a totally different noise, especially in corners. I still hear the noise difference and have had the Michelins on for 2 years.

I have the E-3 on the rear and didn't notice any difference in noise from the Cobra I had on before.
Will be replacing the front with an E-3 before to long.

I've got E3's front and rear, I had them on my Goldwing and had goodluck. I run 40 psi also. I noticed that it was noisier at first but got better with break-in. It's still noisier in turns. I had it rebalanced twice and then switched to dynabeads and have been happy with them. I've got 8k on my rear and have been very happy with it.

I guess I just need to get used to it. This is the first set of E3s I've had. Always ran Metz on my 02 Nomad and they were pretty quiet.

Was thinking about buying the Dunlop Elite 3 to replace my original Bridgestone's and now I may have to reconsider. Will continue checking the tire threads and see what others have to say. Thanks for posting this thread.

I have the E3 Bias ply on the rear....no problems...way quieter than the OEM brickstone. I run 40PSI as well.

I've had a E3 radial (my first) on the back for about 3,000 miles and haven't noticed any noise. Just put an E3 on the front. But I don't have but 10 miles on it. So I can't comment on the front.

Just replaced my front and rear with E-3s, Radial on the rear, bias on the front. Have only been able to put about 20 miles on them, but the bike handles way better, don't seem to have to put as much effort in to riding it, even at parking lot speeds.

Am currently running 38 psi front and rear, anything has to be quieter than the old stones were.
