Maintenance Day

It finally warmed up here today, It almost reached 60 and it was Nice not having to wear a jacket most of the day. I put my new rear tire on and balanced it. When I removed the wheel I noticed some oil seeping from the rear end housing where it bolts to the driveshaft. I removed and found the pinion seal leaking pretty good. It was to late to pick up a seal so It'll have to wait until Monday. Tomorrow I will change the fork oil, check the steering neck bearings, and put the fairing back on. Then it gets a good bath and polish, and Im set for the summer at last.

I changed oil Thursday and today took the whole windshield apart to clean it what a pain.

Geeesh, I felt pretty good because I lubed a few pivot points. Good grief, I need to get busy.

Maintenance Day

My pinion seal has leaked a little since new. I found that it's easy to put too much oil in the gearbox and when it heats up it forces a little through the seal. This reduced to almost nothing when I decided to reduce the oil level in the rear gear case about 1/4" below the factory level. I do change that oil about every 3000 miles though, because there's just not much in there, and it's easy to do.
