So..It happened.

Falling over the left side when trying to corner left on a Belgium
uphill crossroad at walking speed.
In a split second I could'nt hold the bike anymore.
Result..trapped with my foot still on the board laying down on the
road and NO way to get up again.
It was one of those backroads where just few people pass.
The sun was setting,so I was affraid of the dark.
No lights to show my position on that road.
Since it was a left corner I was strechet out to the point any traffic
could bust me into pieces.
After laying down there a farmer on his John Deere passed, saw me,and helped me up my feet and tires again.
That was after 45 min of sweat and worry.
No damage to the bike, the engine guard saved the day.
Just a swollen foot and the lesson never to rest feet at the boards at low speed ever again.
It's a bit of a shame to tell you people this event, because after
4 decades of driving motorcycles it never happened to me before.
It's the weight killing me at low speed in difficult circumstances.
What are your experiences?

So..It happened.

The third day I owned mine had a similar accident. Parking the bike on a slight hill. I fell over on the left side and left leg got trapped under it. Broke my left ankle and me twisting and turning the leg to get it out I tore ligaments and tendons in the ankle and knee. Had to have ankle and knee surgery. It does happen.

So..It happened.

just so happens the same thing happened to me over the 4th. was at the iowa state abate rally, and it happened the morning we left for home. pulling my trailer, i just pulled out of campsite and had to make a uphill right turn. back tires broke loose on the wet gravel, and down i went. luckily there was others standing right there and got the bike off of me. was so flustered with everyone watching that, i forgot to shut key back off and wondered why my bike wouldnt start. harley guy told me to turn it off then turn it back on ! "thats what we have to do " so ya foot was sore for the ride home, pride was bruised too !!! glad your ok !!!

Jandi, I can understand that you were in a serious bind for nearly an hour. I think that most of us on here have dropped the Nomads while making slow maneuvers or while stopping and putting a foot down on sand or loose gravel. I've dropped mine on 3 separate occasions. Once while attempting a full locked right hand U-turn in my driveway and grabbing the front brake, once putting a foot down in loose gravel, and another backing down a steep incline parking spot onto a flat street. My feet didn't reach the ground when the back tire hit the level pavement and the front wheel was still on the incline. The first two drops were with my wife on the pillion seat. That really built her confidence in my riding skills. Don't feel too bad or embarrassed about the ordeal. As an old member used to say, "There are those who have dropped their bike and those that will". Take care.

Ouch!! Glad this worked out well for you. That had to be a terrifiying 45 minutes. I too have dropped my bike several times but luckily have not been pinned under it.

It was..believe me..terrifiying..I hope it never happens again.
But..like I mentioned..I think the trick is just to never use the
boards at low speed..that way just the bike is dropping,NOT you.
But..I see I'm not the only one here having that kind of trouble.
Makes my foot feel a little better.
THX for all the good wishes guys..very kind.
I'll survive this Nomad..hopefully.

I don't know if any of you guys in the U.S.A are watching the Tour the France.
If you do..you will get a good impression about the roads I'm talking about.

Glad your alright. Stuff happens, we learn and move on. I would be willing to bet 99 per cent of us here have dropped our bike one time or another.

Glade to hear you are alright. Your experience reminds me of an incident that happened to me when I was younger. I went to the bike shop early in the season to buy a set of crash bars for the bike I had at the time. Being one piece, I put them over my shoulders for the ride home. Coming around a busy traffic circle I hit a patch of ice and down I went sliding on my back with the bike onto the shoulder and up a bit of a grassy embankment. My foot was caught much like yours and I struggled for quite a while before getting free. Not one car stopped to help. The bike and I were OK, Just my pride hurt and I got a lot of mileage out of the story. You see the top of the crash bars were all scraped from being over my shoulders and me skidding along on my back. When I installed them nobody could figure out how the tops were all scraped and the sides were still beautifully chromed.

Well, now we know that crash bars not only protect the bags and engine. They can also save a little hide on your backside when you sling them over your shoulder. That was good CNC. ;)

So..It happened.

My brother has dropped his /06 on a few situations. I myself dropped mine once sitting in the garage. Forgot to put the kick stand down while playing with a kid my wife was watching. So far so good.

Really glad you are ok.
It happened to me in the parking lot of the hotel at the rally last year. Luckily I got my foot down and stood up as the bike went down.

Glad that you are OK, and that the farmer was willing to stop and help. I've dropped mine doing slow speed turns, but thankfully, was not trapped underneath.

Ride safe.

Now that made me laugh out loud Mitch.
