Cobra True Duals -VS- V&Hs
I suppose it all depends on what you prefer. I like the sound of both. I've ridden behind Jim and Annette and the Cobras sound great. I have V & H and find they are a little louder than the Cobras even with the V & H stock baffles. I think TC would prefer the V & H with the ultimate baffles. ;)

thru my researching i have found that the V&H rear heat shield does not cover the pipe completely...where the pipe turns to go thru the bike to the other side.....

I don't let that bother me any, and if it did i would fix it with cheap house hold chrome pipe for plumbing. Find a likely bend in pipe and cut it in half. Run a stainless both thru a stainless hose clamp, drill out the new cover and bolt it to the clamps with stainless acorns install it and snug up the clamps. I can't tell if you are counting who has what or if this poll is what's the 'best' I think you can mod a V&H more than any other system if it stays V&H. I know you can put on most any cans from Harley, but Cobra head pipes might also do that, I just don't know. I can poll since i don't know what is being asked.

this is my opinion. i have the cobras. they were a perfect fit , the price was right, and they sound great, not to loud, but demand respect when you want it. vance and hines, i had a propipe on my warrior. poor fit, had to modify to fit. did look and sound okay, on the nomad, to many complaints on pipe cracking, and kind of shoddy looking on the right side where the left pipe goes over the right pipe. to me it looks like sh**. i can't understand why the folks on here opt for the v&h and bitch about them cracking in favor of the noise. the cobras are picture perfect in all categories. bill

I think both pipes have merit. I have the Cobra's on mine, I wouldn't choose them again. I think the sound is a little "stuffy". I ride with my good friend who has the V&H on his Nomad. They have a nice 'tude about them. That being said, my Cobra's are a great "touring" pipe for folks who want a little more sound, less weight, and better performance. The Cobra's aren't perfect either. The heat shields have a tendency to come loose and rattle if you don't torque down the clamps and add a little loctite.

V & H here. No problems through 20,000 miles so far. I hadn't listened to a clip of the Cobras for a while, but after doing so now, I still have to pick the V & H. As was stated above, I like the "attitude" they have.

I think both pipes are nice. A few thing to remember is that cobra has a lifetime warranty and they do stand behind it. VH does not have such a warranty.
The VH pipes are generally a bit cheaper and there are hundreds of member who have them. I don't think you'll find a problem with fitment or quality. I would choose the VH pipes because I like the Ultimate Baffle option.

I put on the V&H for the ability to service the baffle. The packing will go away and the sound changes; they will need repacked. The Ultimate Baffle is just a little plus too. Never had a problem with cracking or rusting. Besides if V&H is good enough for my HD buddies, then ....

the cobra tru-dauls with the billet tips have a removable baffle so
repacking or modifying the baffles is no differant then it would be with the vance and hines.
