Solo Nomad

Just got my Grasshopper backrest so I did the Nomad solo. I got some chrome caps from Auto Zone for the rear seat bolts until I can find a chrome curved rack.

I'm getting use to it. Until now I used the fire and steel backrest which supported my mid back. The Grasshopper rest on my lower back about my belt line. It also is leaned back more than my fire and steel. If I lean back enough for it to fit flat on my back the handlebars feel too far away. I guess that means pull back risers are needed now. I still like it. Good quality workmanship. The 1500 backrest must sit lower than the 1600.

Talking with a friend today and he says Yamaha makes a rack that will fit the rear fender of the Nomad. You will have to turn out two of the mounting tabs slightly and it will fit. He usually is right, but no guarantee from me. I have not seen it. Worth looking into ?

I have heard the same thing about the Yamaha rack but I sure would like to know that it fits for sure before I order one.

OK, I called my friend. He said to go to Gadget's fixit page, go to "paint and body", scroll down to "solo rack that fits". He says there is some pictures and part #'s. Good luck.

Bobby put the grasshopper in a vice and bend it forward a little.

Are the bolt holes the same distance apart on the 1500 and the 1600?
