Life After No longer Owning a Nomad
I kept my 07 Nomad for about a year and sold it because I am frankly just too frail to schlep around the 800 lbs or so of bike in parking lots and in slow going..I miss the comfort, roadability and the "luxury" of the Nomad for sure..Plus, in my eyes, the Nomad is the most beautiful of all larger cruisers...
One of my main memories is participating in the Southeast Rally earlier this year..it is the only rally I have ever attended...it was so pleasant an experience to meet so many of the "regulars" on these boards and to ride with them...my trip up and back on the Blue Ridge parkway is unforgettable.. Yes, I will never forget my Nomad and the pleasure it brought me. Now I ride my two smaller bikes, both of which weigh in at around 550 lbs....They are much easier for me to handle at low speeds and in parking lots....Even having said that, I did lose control of one of them while standing still in my driveway over it went. Fortunately a neighbor was out and came to help me right the the bike adn it didn't suffer any scratches... As when I had the Nomad, my rides are almost always alone, and I just go up and down the country roads in my vicinity..my average ride is in the general range of 50 miles...The freedom from the daily routine of caregiving for my invalid wife in the rest home is wonderul.....I am 74, but sure don't feel it, aside from not having nearly as much physical strength as I once did.. I hope you won't mind if I continue to lurk here and chime in once in awhile...

I sure I hope I can make it riding a Nomad to 74, but that's unlikely. I know exactly what you mean about the weight of the bike. I'm a big guy and am never sure about my footing. Enjoy the smaller bikes and keep riding.

Seems to me you are as much a Nomad enthusiast as ever, as are others of us who for whatever reason no longer actually own a Nomad, but still hold them to be one of the finest motorcycles ever designed.
What are your new rides?

Feel free to check in with us, I hope I'll still be riding at 74. More than likely if I am, it will be on a lighter bike as well.

Life After No longer Owning a Nomad
I really miss mine on days when work goes horribly bad. Of course that has been nearly every day for about a month now. I guess maybe that is karma for me selling the Nomad.

74, if you don't mind me saying you are an inspiration to many of us I am sure. There are times I miss my previous smaller bike for zipping around town and if that was all I was doing I would have something lighter as well. You clearly have a special place in your heart for the Nomad and so in my book you are always welcome here.

I'm glad we had a chance to meet at the rally in June. Sorry to here of the nomad departure. You know that you are welcome here anytime, and who knows, maybe we will see you at the National Rally in 2011.

My heart and prayers go out to you and your wife. You are such a dedicated , and good person to take care of your wife. You are still a Nomader in my book, so please, jump in as often as you like. You are right, those short rides work wonders for the mind and soul. God Bless !!

BokoBob,
We all make accommodations to reality. I'll continue reading your posts until you start insisting that ...

Bob, keep involved around here and attend whatever rallies or events you can. I hope to see you again at our next SENR function or at the national in 2011. You are always welcome in our neck of the woods.
