KawaNOW National 2011 - Update/Info

As many of you know, our National Rally for KawaNOW will be held next year.... June 14, 15 and 16, 2011. Our base town will be Maggie Valley, North Carolina. Our base hotel will be the Maggie Valley Inn.

Months ago, I appointed Todd "Todd1" Frazier and Amy "Kawgirl" Neal as the coordinators for the event. Todd and Amy have done an excellent job in researching and finding a good city and hotel for the national. Maggie Valley, NC is close to several areas that provide excellent roads to ride, including Deal's Gap. Todd and I are currently working on an itinerary for the event.

I want to take this opportunity to urge and invite every member of KawaNOW to attend this rally. Not only can we put faces with names and see old friends as well as new ones, but we can enjoy the KawaNOW Nomadradery and ride some primo roads.

If you attended the National Rally in Custer, SD in 2009, you know what I'm talking about. There's nothing like seeing Nomads running all over the place. There are times it can make the hair standup on your back.

For those that would like to attend, we have provided a board just for the 2011 National. Just go to that board and keep abreast of all info there.

And for those that can't make it to the National in June, KawaNOW will be holding another rally in the Western part of the USA in Crescent City, CA in August. I have appointed Kris Olsen to headup that effort. There is also a board setup to give you all the info on that.

Either way, I urge every member to get involved and become a part.

Having attended the 2009 KawaNOW National Rally, the 2010 SW Regional Rally and the 2010 NW Regional Rally....I can say unequivocally that attending the rallies truly enhances the experience of being a member of this group.

Meeting your fellow members and putting real faces to the names you usually only see in an on-line post creates a different kind of bond, and broadens the KawaNOW experience exponentially. There is nothing quite like seeing the hotel parking lot full of Nomads, or riding in a string of Nomads that stretches a quarter of a mile down the road !

Additionally, besides the rally itself, there is the added adventure of just getting there and back! Making plans to meet up with other members along your route and seeing your posse grow with each added rider really gets the juices flowing. When you finally pull into your final destination...you can't wipe the smile off of your face...

Trip, Todd, Amy, myself and Joel (Waterman, SW RL) are doing everything we can to make sure the opportunity is there for you to enjoy a great getaway either solo, or with your spouses, GF's, BFF's....or whomever. Two great rallies are being planned that I too would encourage every member here to strive to attend. If you have riding friends who do not ride Nomads, they are certainly welcome to join you (us).

If the National Rally in Maggie Valley is within your reach, start your planning now and you will have a fantastic time next summer. For those closer to the West Coast, we have an equally grand time planned for the Rally in the Redwoods in Crescent City!

To those I have met at previous rallies, I sincerely look forward to seeing you all again. To those I have yet to meet, I look equally forward to a firm handshake and a new friendship... :)! Make one of the KawaNOW rallies a part of your ride plans for 2011, it will be one of the best things you do all year....that I can promise you...

Base hotel reservations are now available for booking at both locations on a first come first served basis. The information can be found in the KawaNOW Rally boards.

I'd like to second Netorske's comment about coming to a rally. When you are just talking on a board, it's just that -- Talking. Once you have met many of these fine people (excluding BD of course ;) ), they are more like long lost friends or family. I have been to 2 of Kawanow's rallies as well as several of the VROC rallies and that is what we generally say. The members that don't attend have missed out on something special. A bond between people develops (BD, keep you mind clear) that becomes real friendships. I would open my house up to anyone that I have met on these boards in a heartbeat.
