Pretty Embarrasing Moment!

I backed my Nomad out of the garage this morning to take a ride and I accidently laid it over on its right side. Spent the next 1/2 hour trying to locate a neighbor to help me pick it up. No luck. I went on the internet and found out how to lift a heavy bike and boom zing I got it back up!

Got a small scratch on the underside of the right crash bar by the bags but nothing else hurt except my pride! Guess I need to pay a little more attention to what I am doing with this heavy bike!

Dale

I would think that most of us have done it at least once, and the others are fibbers.

Don't worry about it. Everyone does it. Generally the first thought is "Oh Crap!".

In your driveway and not at a stop light is the correct way to learn how to pick it up.

Good job on not having to learn how before then.

Consider the minor error training. Also always back up slowly and use the front hand brake...if you try to back up too quickly and use the brake, you will lose it. I've done it and I'm sure many others here have done the same thing.

I've done it also. It's really embarrassing if you're showing your newly aquired bike to friends and family. Had to get them to help get it back up. One time it was dark and nobody was around. I figured it out and got it back up without help.

I suspect most of us have done it MORE than once, and the rest are fibbers. ;)

Please don't ask why I said that.

Not me. Never done it. Ever. And never done it in front of a dates house, either. First date at that. She was less than impressed. I mean, if I had done it which I didn't. :)

Your certainly not the first guy to have that happen to, and you learned how to pick it up as well.

I have heard you can avoid scraping the bar by putting your heel between it and the pavement. No scratch on the bar at all, and a great 3 week limp too. I think I read that somewhere.....

So how do you lift a 800 lb bike? I havn't dropped mine but I've had my foot slip some on gravel and I know I just got lucky.
Thanks,
James

Geezz, you guy that are tipping your bike over need to pay more attention to what you are doing.
I have never tipped mine over but if I did I would just pick it up.
I hear it will only tip to the engine and bag guards, how hard can it be to lift it from that far down.
You guys need to hit the gym or something.

We had a thread on exactly that subject last year, I'll see if I can find it.
Here it is.
