acknowledging other riders

I'm getting to the point where if the other rider doesn't have a brain bucket on I don't wave because most of them don't wave or can they tell if I'm not on a HD at a glance? Now HD touring bikes usually wave maybe because they are enjoying the ride like I'm am and not just bar hopping

This discussion was just posted in the last month with a question about waving at other riders. I've pretty much stopped waving at every Tom, Dick and Suzi on a bike. Too many people on two wheels these days and it gets ridiculous to be honest with you. The type of machine does not affect that decison. I ignore them all. I would rather stop to help them when I see them sitting beside the road.

I will continue to be friendly with other motorcyclists. That's just who I am.

Sometimes I'm too busy paying attention to the traffic on my side of the line to care about anybody else or their feelings.

I generally wave and find that most people wave back.

I wave, especially if it is a cold or rainy day. I figure if the other person is out riding in that weather they love riding as much as I do. They almost always wave back.

I always wave. It's like finding a blind man at a nudist colony... It's not that hard.

I wave at everybody. It's a geographical neighborly thing around here where we wave from cars and trucks. The only two wheelers who don't wave back are on scooters.

Here in Germany most riders wave....what I notice is that the clowns on Harleys who think they are tough guys don't wave nor do many of the crotch rocket riders, but the rest are pretty friendly. I guess if you ride just for the fun of it, you appreciate other riders, but if you are out to make an impression on folks, well, I don't know. I ride and I wave but I do get pissed with others don't return the courtesy.

I wave at everybody. I'm just a naturally friendly guy. I even waved at the blind idiot who cut me off the other day although I didn't use quite as many fingers as I normally do.

Lar, If you didn't see the thread that is similar to this one, you're not spending enough time with us that do. The shame of it!

Oh, last two rides I did, I decided after the first 30 minutes if I was going to bother. If the majority weren't waving back by then, I would give up for the rest of the day. And as it turned out, no one was waving by the end of the day. I shouldn't be the one starting the wave all the time. I know, what a dickhead. Well I recently took a test that proved beyond a doub't that I'm still a dickhead from high school. So there.

There is the same sort of thread circulating on the other bike forums, it's titled do you wave at dickheads? Many said no.

Well, there you go.
Maybe I should remove the " I'm A Dickhead" sign from my wind screen.
