Reliability poll

Some of you know I am not big on unnecessary maintenance. ;)
Just curious as to how many of you have actually had an equipment failure on a motorcycle. I'm not talkin' car or truck, just motorcycles.
I forgot to put in no never have had any of them fail. Hey it is my first attempt at making a poll on this wonderfully easy forum.
Now I can't deleat it and start over or add to the thread

Where's the poll part?, Ok forget that question. I didn't see it above your post, looks more like one of those ad boxes which I ignore.
I have to say none of the above.

Having owned quite a few bikes over the past 35 or so years, the only failure of the items you mentioned for me personally has been a front wheel bearing. On the other hand, I have known personally, folks who have experienced failures of each of the items listed. I really think most people don't put the miles on their bikes, so they don't have a chance for things to fail/wear out.

At 25300 miles my u-joint was almost frozen in one plane. And my swingarm had .150 movement side to side. Did they fail I guess not techicnally but they were well on their way down that road. Front wheel bearings were dry and making all kinds of racket at 28,400 and were injected with some new grease. Will be getting a set of new bearings to go in this winter. I don't want any of these items to fail. Thats why its called preventitive maintainance. The object is to catch the little things and deal with them before they become very big issues.

I have never owned a bike long enough or put enough miles on one to reach failure point. Over at the American Voyager Association where guys typically ride 200,000 miles plus on those Voyager XII touring bikes there have been reports of failures in all those except shock mounts.

IMHO, should be a way to check multiple items then add "none". I haven't had any of those failures but I've only had the Nomad for a couple months and it's only got a bit over 15k miles on her.

TC, I have to say NONE also, and yes, I do all the preventative maintenance my self, and when it's recommended. ;)
