Reckless fairing question

I know there are numerous threads about reckless fairings on this forum, and I looked last night but could not find an answer to my question.

With the reckless fairing how are the stereo and speakers installed, is there a mounting bracket or shelf already in the fairing?

Also what all am I going to need once I am ready to install the stereo? I am going order without the stereo but with the pre-cut holes.

If anyone has pictures of the inner workings of their Reckless fairings they wouldnt mind shairing I would much apreciate it!

Speakers are installed just as you would install them in a car. Stick the speaker in the hole, mark the mounting holes, drill them and attach with screws.

The radio opening is a standard single-DIN opening, compatible with many aftermarket radio units on the market.

Here's some photos of the inside of my Reckless fairing from my Nomad in various stages of completion:

I used those switches for a set of driving lights, a set of fog lights, and I switched the 12v accessory outlet I installed in it. The 4th was just a spare switch to balance things out.

I used duct tape to seal around the foam speaker baffles to keep dust out. Dust is a big problem here where I'm at.

That looked great, CJ! I've only seen pics of the inside of the inside, never the outside of the inside. Hell of a job, mate!

CJ,
Obviously the Reckless is a 2 piece fairing like the HD OEM ones. How does the outer piece attached to the inner? Any issues with getting a nice tight fit betwenn the two halves or rattling or vibration?

Just wondering as I have the Wide Open Custom one and it is all one unit that has been glued together at the factory. I can see where the 2 piece is nice for getting at all the audio stuff and any other wiring you may have in the fairing.

I think fitting the two halves together is a weak spot in Reckless's design. I must have received a good one, but I have heard others complain about uneven gaps, etc. Mine didn't rattle or vibrate excessively. Basically, there are two screws on each side of the lower edge of the fairing and the 3 windshield bolts are all that holds the two halves together.

I have never had my Harley fairing apart, but it looks like the fit is much more precise.

I had the Premeux fairing and the two halves connected the same way as the other fairings. It had a rubber seal around the inner part and it fit so well it was waterproof.

Nice job on this Scott! I am going to install the foam baffles on my speakers as well. Do you remember if you cut the bottom of the foam? That is what it said on the ones I got to do. Some thing to do with the bass!

Thanks Scott.I did call tech support since this is what it said on their site "These baffles will protect your speakers. In many applications we recommend that you cut a hole in the bottom of the baffle, or remove the entire bottom of the baffle, to maintain good bass response while still protecting your speaker from dirt and water damage."
After talking to the tech he did say just to cut a slit at the bottom or the side, depending how you want to run the wires out of the speakers. I did ask him about what it said about the cutting the bottom out and he said that if the sound , sounds muffled then to resolve that you cut a hole the size of a silver dollar.
