Washing your bike

Due to circumstances well within my control, I have not washed my bike in about two and a half months. As a daily rider you can just imagine how dirty it got. I am doing a full wash today. I have been at it for about six hours now, and still have about two hours to go. I have pulled off the bags, windshield, lowers, seats, plate holder, side covers and a few other things. I even remove the lights lenses to clean inside. Everything is being waxed and/or polished. My question is how often do you do a full wash as described above and how long does it take you?

It depends. Since it hardly ever rains here, my bike doesn't get really grimy, just dusty. Usually I just give my bike a once-over with some detail spray a couple times a month and a detailed cleaning every now and then. A detailed cleaning can take me a few hours. I put the bike on a lift, remove the bags and seat, and go to town. I have lots of chrome, including chrome spoked wheels, so that takes a lot of time.

That has got to be uncomfortable as hell riding to town without a seat.

So far, a full wash happens about every third week and takes me at least 2 1/2 hours.

Being in Seasonal territory, I do it in the spring and fall,
takes me a couple of hours.
The rest of the time I just hose and spray with S-100.
Follow the directions for it, and it will only take a few minutes.

I Plexus every couple of decent rides if bugs and dust warrant it.

I remove bags, and do more detail (wheels, engine, pipes, etc) every 2 months or so during the riding season.

If it has to be removed to get washed, it's still dirty on my '06. I regularly clean and polish the spots that can be seen and reached. Not so much the rest of the spots.

Never also. I usually clean my Nomad with Honda Pro Cleaner two or three times a week. It gets everything off and leaves a great shine. I have only washed my bike once or twice and all that amounted to was washing it off with the water hose. The spray cleaner takes all the hasle out of keeping my bike looking good.

I wipe it down with Turtle Wax Ice spray after every ride.
Takes about 15 to 30 mins depending on how big and numerous the bugs are.

Living in a salt enviroment I do a full wash at least every two weeks, every week if needed. Salt eats up everything! However you have me beat, I've never cleaned inside my lights. Talk about anul!
