Does it fit the KQR mounting, or is it its own thing?

it does not utillize the kqr system. it bolts directly to the frame where the kqr system does. still looks great though.

Assuming they're on your computer, click "Go Advanced" then scroll down to "Manage Attachments". If you've uploaded them to Photobucket, highlight the upload link under the pic you want, right click, select copy, go to your post, right click, select paste.

Robert came to my shop yesterday and let me make up a rack to fit his Vaquero..
I had already taken measurements for a Vaquero rack at the Maggie Valley Rally last month but, there is a big difference in taking measurements then actually making a rack. The little things, like spacers had to be special ordered, right size and bolt grade, and getting the level angle right for the mounting plate has to be right.
Robert got the original and first rack made, but after doing a redesign, I now have a better one built! (Took 9 1/2 hours to finalize it) His is one strong rack but as picky as I am about my racks and the fact it took both of us to mount the rack I decided to make is better. Instead of being one piece and heavy, it is my first 3 piece rack. Easier to install and lighter, one person can install it!
Now they are ready to sell...

Here are some pictures of Roberts bike with the rack on it.
He forgot to mention that he had a Mustang seat on his bike and it's 2 inches higher then stock seat.
This rack mounts the very same way as the passenger backrest does. Same hardware and bolts strength.
Strength is the main reason for doing it this way.

His is the last 3 bikes... https://picasaweb.google.com/wompusr...RacksAndTrunks

Im sooo sad....I was told in Jan that he would not be making them for the Vaquero.
I had to buy something else and make it work for the trunk.

Wompus makes a great rack for the Vstar1300 (which I had). Hardest part of getting rid of that bike was the losing that rack.

Youll love the rack!!

SO far, it's everything I hoped it would be!
Can you set the tour pack on the bike for a little teaser?

Wompus, excellent job. How difficult would it be to create something that would rest on the KQR system?
Keep up the good work!

The problem would be getting the correct latch that fits the KOR bottom plates.
If I could get the clips then I would make them, but then again I know they would be expensive and take forever to get from them.
Just like the stock spacers... I waited 3 weeks and they never showed up, and they cost around $16.00 each through Kawasaki.(4 X 16..??) That would have to be added to the cost of the rack.
That's why I have to get them from California!

Yeah, I know, it's not as fancy as the other racks shown here but fancy don't get you down the road, strength does..

I'm really sorry I said that. When you asked me I had never seen the Vaquero with a backrest on it and I didn't know what was involved in making the rack for that bike. I've turned down over a dozen people who wanted a rack for their bike, and I hated to tell them I wouldn't be making one, but thanks to one of the "Steel city VROC" members and Robert, I got to take one apart, get the measurements, hunt down the spacers I needed find the 10.8 bolts and now I'm making them.

Hell, I said I would never make Harley racks, but now I do... <gmao>
It will take me a while to recoup what I have in materials for the Vaquero but eventually I'll get caught up...
