Seat Mod!
Being that stock seats are generally less than desirable and that I am tall I was happy to learn I live close to a seat specialist that has a great reputation on a national level...Mean City Cycles. They offer a ton of options and are truly good at what they do; all for a low cost. They moved me back 2 inches and down 1 inch with a single layer of memory foam for $110. I could not be more pleased with the outcome! Here is their website with a full menu of options www.meancitycycles.com If you don't want to or can't (like me) spend $600 on a seat but want an improvement they are great. I listened to a few phone calls as I waited today and they can get you dialed over the phone(that is the bulk of their business)
I found them through this thread on a Harley site using Google after a 200 mile ride that had me in pain. I snapped a pic of mine being done through the window which is the one in the post but this link shows the whole process http://www.hdforums.com/forum/mean-c...-seat-mod.html I am certainly in no way affiliated just thought ohers may like to know-

I've heard good things about them from others. IIRC someone else on the board had their seat reworked by them. Glad you are enjoying your new seat.

Sounds good. I weigh 235 lbs and am 6'2" and the Nomad seat isn't ...perfect. Not sure I want it lowered, but I would love more comfort. I would like to have the passenger seat altered too. Donna says it bothers her after a while too.
I guess price depends what you want done to the seat. I will do some more research on this. Thanks for the write up. Don & Donna

That is a good write up and pics.
That is almost pic for pic of the steps I have taken on four different seats I have owned. I could not find one that I thought was comfortable enough. I now have an Ultimate seat I have reworked with memory foam and I think I have finally got it right.

I have the stock seat and only used sheepskin. At about 100 miles I have to start moving around on the seat. Now I'm trying a gel pad that I had with the sheepskin on top. Yes I seat a little higher.
