I-POD issues

'11 Voyager - ipod cuts in & out while playing music. Radio plays fine on any station, but Ipod cuts in & out, no matter what playlist I'm on. The display screen revets to AUX when it cust out, then goes back to the regular display when music comes back on. When it cuts out, it's different lengths of time, sometimes only a couple seconds, sometimes 10-15 seconds, then comes back. Also, when it comes back, the music picks up where it left off, doesn't keep playing. Ipod is a Gen 3 model.

Anyone else have this happen?

I have a 2011 Vaquero that is doing the same thing I have a nano i-pod and use to work great. Thank Im giong to take the connecter lost and clean it and check for some bare wires some where if not back to the shop. I fell like it spends more time in the shop than me riding it realy getting old. Will post if and when I find some thing out our madbe some body already knows the problem. That would be nice Good luck.

I'm gonna try a different ipod, maybe my iphone 4s, just to see what it does. Hoping it's just the ipod, and not the radio itself. If it turns out to be the radio, I'll start looking for aftermarket stereos with hand control adapters, amps, better speakers...lol.

I had the same issue with an iPod Touch in my Vaquero. I opened the fairing door, pulled out the foam protecter, and found the cable wasn't connected completely into the iPod. I re-checked the cable connections with the bike itself, making sure they were tight, then carefully re-connected the iPod to its cable, and likewise carefully re-inserted the foam with the iPod back into the fairing. Its been good to go since.

Hopefully they go to Bluetooth audio and this stuff will be history.

They should have done that in 09 when they first came out, get rid of the overpriced XM module and CB (which is really not used that much anymore anyway unless it comes standard) go with BT and SD and USB input, the radio IMO in the Voyager and Vaquero line has to be the ugliest as well.

Now if they had a module like they do for the Harleys that allowed the use of the handlebar controls with the Sony radio, I would be changing over tomorrow.

If anyone comes up with a way to integrate the controls with an aftermarket radio, let me know.

Tried a different Ipod over the weekend - worked fine. So it must be my Ipod. Wonder if it got wet or something. Just glad it's not the bike's audio system!

I'm not sure what generation of Ipod Apple switched over, but the older versions have a hard drive based memory. These do NOT do well with vibrations. The newer generations are a flash drive based memory and do handle the vibrations. This could be the cause of your issues. That, and as stated before, a possible loose connection.

I have an older nano that this was happening with. Opened glove box, blew in to the cable end and connector of the iPod and all was well again.

Two thumbs - I have a feeling it got wet when I washed the bike. It's been going on for a while, so i'd think the thing woulda dried out by now. The ipod is a Gen3 model, so its not a hard drive thing. Just a glorified memory stick. My wife's ipod is a newer version and it worked fine. I may have to get a new one.

Had the same issue with a Nano. Switched it out with my 1st GEN iPod Touch and never had an issue again.
