CJ is back!

Yesterday I went to start up my bike and it was deader than Kurt Cobain. I was puzzled because it had been on a battery tender for months. I hooked the charger up to the battery and charged it at 2A until the LED on the charger read 100%. Went to start it and nothing, the fuel pump relay was just clicking. So I went to Chandler HD and bought a new battery ($170) and was installing it this morning and I saw the fuse holder for the battery tender pigtail. I removed the 7.5A fuse and it was blown. I thought I had been maintaining my battery all these months and the tender wasn't doing a bit of good.

Buttoned it back up and took the bike for a spin. I had to really think to remember how to activate the cruise control and work the radio controls, it has been so long. I still had gas in it I bought in Cordes Jct AZ on my way home from Orofino, so my first stop was a gas station. I filled it with 87 octane instead of 91. Oops.

It sure felt good to get out and ride a bit. I have too much to do right now to take an extended ride, but it was the best 20 miles I've traveled in a long time.

That is FANTASTIC Scott. So can you take the new battery back or are you going to keep it? did you put any Seafoam in the tank or anything while it sat?

About time you started to ride! Regardless of how busy you might be, Friday and Saturday are the only two days it is going to be in the mid-80s. After that it is going back up to 100. See if you can remember how to twist a throttle for a half a tank or so to give the poor bike some exercise. If nothing else your wife will breathe a sigh of relief to get you out of the house for a while. Glad you are feeling better.

No my old battery was shot. I couldn't get it to hold a charge.

That happened to me recently, but for a different reason. I had just replaced the battery last October too, so it was warrantied. The battery I put it is the same as your HD. It was less though...Glad to hear you are back on the road.
