Freedom Performance Exhaust.
So before I ask my question let me tell ya , most of this stuff is new to me. I have a all black bike and I think my 1st mod will be changing the chrome exhaust for a freedom performance flat black exhaust. Once I buy the exhaust is there anything else I need to do to the bike or can I just unbolt/ bolt on the new exhaust. do I need to change anything else ? Any advice you could provide me would be greatly appreciated .

You will need to get a power commander 5 and an map to adjust the fuel air mixture. You don't have to get the power commander specificity but I feel that is the best one. With that you can gher the auto the also..

Hey Trust , is this something [I] Could do myself [I] know ABSOLUTELY nothing about any of that I could replace the exhaust. [I] have done minor repairs i.e. Replace brakes, rotors, shocks . But never done anything like that. Oh and last but not least what is a map ?

you got this. i just installed mine and it took less than an hour but its because i was very careful. buy new gaskets for the exhaust. can never go wrong with that and its only 10 dollars. if you want the full improvemnet you will need to get a new air intake (thunder manuf.) and some kind of fuel processor like power commander or cobra or bunch of other ones out there. thats another 600 dollars or so. well worth it. just sold bunch of stuff to buy it for my bike

You get what you pay for. Top dollar for the best products. Powercommander V is the best way to go.

You can also just install the pipes and leave the rest stock for a while. That will give you time to save for the tuner and a new air intake.

Thanks all
Okay so I can just install the exhaust for now and purchase the rest later. Will the bike still run okay with the new exhaust without all the other stuff.

Yes it will, but if you install a BAK (Big Air Kit) you will also need the tuner at the same time. When you change how much air is going into the engine you need to change the fuel mixture also. By installing the pipes only that does not affect the fuel/air ratios so no tuner is needed.
I'm sure much more experienced riders will explain this much better.

Greetings Thule,
From what I understand, with only the FP (Freedom Performance) pipes modification. You run the risk of taking already slightly LEAN situation and making it worse. Do not put off the PC-V upgrade too long. There are many here who swear by the benefits of the PC-V and a good BAK. You will need and want all three to make you bike sound, run and be healthy! Ride safe, Smokier

Quote:
i wrote a long post on this subject, im not sure if its proper to paste it here because its long, but its titled "Freedom Performance True Dual Full Report", http://vulcanbagger.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42931 in short you MUST have the PC III with ignition control to use these pipes, and i also have info about the baffles, the pipes are super loud unless you get the quiet baffles, |
