Nomad 1700 2016

Hi, new owner of new Nomad 1700 2016 ✌️
After intensive search i have finally found my bike and i already fell in love with it, still haven't got this beauty home yet from the dealer ship but it should get here any day now after completing the registration.
I was aiming for HD road king but when i found the ridiculous maintenance prices i waived it from my list.
Now back to Nomad, i read somewhere that Nomad1700 was discontinued and last production was 2016, is this correct?
If this is correct will i be able to find their parts in the future as i am planning to keep it for 10+ years.
Finally i was planning for Voyager but didn't have one in stock, is it true that Nomads are exactly like Voyager in term of parts and accessories? Except of course the head and the back trunk?
Got this for 13,800 usd is it fair price? Mileage is 000
Thanks

Where are you located gohoomoa?

'14 was the last year for the Nomad in the US.

I wouldn't worry about maintenance parts. Now accessories may be a different story. Research the accessories you want and get them now before they are gone.

Welcome. Kawasaki maintenance is no less expensive than it is for a Harley.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I would price a new Voyager in your area before deciding if the Nomad at $13,800 is a good deal. If down the road you decide to get a trunk, driving lights etc etc the Voyager might have been the way to go.

But then if you are happy with the deal on the Nomad that is all that matters.

Thanks all for your kind reply, i am located in Saudi and it seems Nomad is no longer produced after 2016, kind of upset that I didn't know that before i made the purchase. The deal suppose to be fair considering it was selling for 17,300 usd but still i keep wondering why it was discontinued, any idea?
Also does the nomads have same specs and shapes as voyagers?
Can i buy any voyager part and fit Nomad without problems?
Sorry if my questions were silly, this is my first bike ever and all the community here are in favor of Harley Davidson so no hopes from them.
Thanks

It was probably discontinued due to a lack of sales as it was competing with the Vaquero and Voyager. The 1700 Nomad has the same top opening hardbags as the Voyager.

These hardbags were not popular with people who wanted the 1700 Nomad with the side opening hardbags of the earlier 1500/1600 Nomads. The 1700 Vaquero has the side opening bags and maybe outsold the 1700 Nomad for this reason, hence the Nomad being discontinued.

This is the respond i got from UK website the reason for stopping Nomads

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately, the VN1700 Nomad motorcycle does not meet the EURO 4 specifications and so is not available as a 2017 model. However, we have available stock of the 2016 VN1700DGF that can be ordered through your local Kawasaki dealership. Please use the following authorised dealership locator link should you wish to further your enquiry.

Kind regards,

When I visited a Kawasaki dealer in the U.K they did not keep any stock of the Nomad, Voyager or Vaquero. They were all ordered as needed. Not much demand in the U.K for them I guess.

Well that is true with vehicles as well. My brother in law was in lust when he came here and I took him to look at cars at the dealership. He has a Jeep Cherokee( actually two of them) in Belgium and you look at the one or two they have there and then you spec the one you want then a couple months later the shipment arrives.
As mentioned, it mainly comes down to not selling as much of them when it comes to the Nomad and the competition from other model as well as brands.

There is no shortage of brands and models of sport and adventure bikes in the large dealerships in the U.K but large cruisers are not sold in numbers like they are in North America. The roads over there are more suited to lighter, more agile motorcycles.

To ease your mind a little, all the 1700's basically have the same parts, (excluding some of the obvious body parts). The manuals for servicing them are similar as well; I've compared a couple of them. The 1700 engines are basically the same, so getting it serviced should not be an issue. Finding performance parts work across the 1700 models too. Congrats and welcome. This site has a LOT of good information and the members are very helpful. Enjoy and ride safe.
