Fork bushings and seals

Have to replace the fork bushings and seals in my '09 Voyager, anything out of the ordinary to look out for? I've done a couple of wings and a 750 Shadow a few years back so I assume I have the general idea down, :-) just wondering if there's any got ya's to be aware of...........Mike

NP, I was planning on doing a write up, just waiting for the parts to show up. Made the seal river already from a piece of 2" sch 40 ABS pipe I necked down to the proper diameter.......Mike

Replaced the bushings and seals on my Vaq mid last year...pretty straight forward if your following the manual... same as any Vulcan 1600 if you owned one.
Used a seal driver like yours too...all good :)
Gotcha's ?.... not really as long as you have the right tools.

Finally, parts arrived, I hope to do it this weekend as they're calling for rain.
Anyone have any idea how hard the rubber riser inserts come out? Its a metal sleeved rubber bushing, I'm concerned how hard the steel sleeve will be to remove from the triple tree, I don't want to hammer on it.
Not to mention, ever tried hammering on a rubber insert? doesn't work that well..........Mike

I found mine stayed in place, no movement when i slid my fork tubes out.

Do you have any tips and pointers on replacing the bushings and seals?.

Thinking of replacing the fork oil to 15w instead of 10w. While I'm already there I should just replace the bushings and seals.

Nothing out of the ordinary I'm afraid.
I meant to come back and do a write up with pics and I totally got off on another tangent and forgot. I've got a god memory....unfortunately it's short.
Only thing that was hard and even then not real bad, was removing the caps, compressing the spring enough and holding it to get the snap ring out. I ended up using two hose clamps joined together around the fork and using the two raised sections of the clamp as a point to fit my two jaw puller to. Turned in the screw against the cap and used it to hold the cap in so I could remove the snap rings.
I used a broom handle to hold the cartridge from rotating while I loosened the allen head cap screws to remove the cartridge. Get a couple of new bolts and crush washers, mine were soft as hell and I barely got them out without monkeying the socket head.
You may find it easier to loosen the screws before removing the cap, the spring may stop the cartridge from turning.....Mike

elguapo= All 15 weight oils are not the same If you use the same brand it "MAY" be thicker. But brand to brand there is no ?? uniform viscosity with weights.
So I have read here many times. Not that I really know anything about it.
I do Know that the dealer put Kawi 15 weight in my forks and at 185LBs I would prefer a more stout fork response. Next time I will go 20w I think. Same brand of course, if they make it.
