V Lift

I couldn't find a lot of recent info on how to build like critical dimensions and such and really wanted one so I started working on it. Had to figure a few things out as I went along but have ended up with a 100% functional V Lift.
If anyone wants to build their own I'll help you with photos, measurements or whatever you might need.

I have a lift and a table, but I would sure like a center stand, at home, for the Voyager. I think I need to make one of these. Thanks for the links!

Mike and Phil, you realize this is for a 1500/1600 and won't work as designed for your 1700s.
Its bolting on where were the Idaho jack adapter does.

I figured it would need some modification. I would modify it some, anyway, as I only want to use it as a center stand for parking in the garage. It may be a starting point.

Actually, this one isn't "bolted on" at all.
There is a 1/4" pin that goes through the tab on the bottom of each frame tube.
What I meant was it fastens to the bike the same as the Idaho jack adapter. It also just pins on in the same location.

The 1700 the motor doesn't come below the frame any so a standard motocycle/atv jack will work with out any blocking.
The 1700 frame area is also wider. Not even sure there is tabs on the 1700, I will have to go look.

The frame width is about 2 inches wider on a 1700 and a lot of motorcycle jacks wont work because the lifting arms are not long enough. I made longer arms for my jack.

I know this is an older thread, but how did you guys extend the "arms" on your MJ to work with the Voyager?

Angle iron? New fabricated arms?

I made new longer arms for the jack. I took off what was there and added the same that was longer. I had access to a milling machine so it was easy. A steel supplier might have some U channel available. I made mine from square tubing and milled one side of the tubing off.

OK. SO you used channel or modified tubing. Gotcha.

Was thinking tube or angle iron. Ill dig it out and start looking at mounting options

Had a guy tell me he welded extension onto what was there. Guess Id rather replace the runner instead of welding.....

Thanks

That's all I did on mine, took a piece of 2 x 2 x 1/4 tubing and cut one side off to make a channel and welded it to the existing channel. I figured why drill the holes and cut the notch out when welding was easier............Mike

I guess it all depends on what you have at your disposal.

I went looking at did not find anything local to do this makeover. My friend down in Fla has a 2012 and he has the craftsman jack. His jack does what its suppose to do. So, I asked him to measure his "legs" and they are within a 1/2 inch or so of what my harbor freight legs measure.

So I am wondering did or does HF make 2 bike jacks? Because according to his info the one I have should work with no mods. I bought the HF jack few yrs ago and its the good ol yellow one.

Am I missing something? I have yet to try the jack which would remedy this issue but have not found time. Tire will be here today so I guess I should find some lol

I have the Canadian Tire jack and the lifting arms were at least a couple of inches too short to lift the Voyager.
