Yesterday the head of the American Legion and 10 other veterans service groups met with Obama at the White House to protest his plan to bill wounded and disabled veterans for their medical care. He told them that if they didn't like it they could come up with the money he wants to bleed from the veterans. This guy is certifiably insane!

My Dad is a WWII vet and isn't very happy with what's being proposed. The saddest part of his story is that he didn't begin taking advantage of his medical benefits until he was 78 years old. He is a regular at the vet clinic for his very reasonable medication he takes. He predicts his benefits to be slashed before long. It's sad.

The story says "proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans" Clearly an injury or condition caused by a wound or while in the military service should be covered.. but I personally know of patients treated for the effects of alcoholism and smoking, kidney stones, (you name it) in VA hospitals long after serving. Where is the line between personal health insurance coverage vs VA.

But then it is tuff to decide which entitlement programs should be cut. The story doesn't indicate that veterans who do not have personal health care coverage will be charged.

After reading the link in McDaddy's post; I have to say I remain a bit disturbed by the thought of cutting VA-paid-care for "military-related" injuries. My God; those that served for our country deserve better than that.

I also agree with the possible consequences that could occur to vets regarding employment; and the consequences to America's largest employer -- the small business owner.

All of this for $500+ million? I would think they could just call up Senator Byrd... he just received around $2 billion in ear-marks in the recent resolution signed by Obama. Maybe he could spare the half-billion to take care of our Vets. Or maybe we could drop the Ted Kennedy project which is to bring attention to his legacy (my god the man isn't even dead yet) that was paid for in the last resolution mentioned.

Either way; or anyway anyone looks at it... this is just not right.

I just hope a bullet finds this fool sooner than later, so he can pay himself. Now i didn't say i was going down to DC, but never the less i bet Obama meets his bullet one way or another.

I, for one, saw this coming. He played the moderate but everyone in the Senate knew him as the most extreme Liberal in the Senate. He calmed it down to get elected and now his extreme socialist ideologies are coming out. I'm not shocked at all. I wasn't fooled at all.
