Lighting and Larger Lowers

I have a set a larger lowers from Edmonds that come right up to the lower edge of the windshield. I have been thinking of getting some additional front lights like these, but would have to cut a small portion of the Lexan lowers to make just enough room for the brackets to come through.

It seems like with a good jigsaw you could do the job fairly easy then file the edges clean. I have never worked with that stuff though so I just wondering if it is real brittle or can I beat it up without too much worry...?? Thx.

I got those lights on mine.

For the lexan, I would recommend cutting it with a scroll saw. That's what I use to cut letters out of lexan at My shop.

Hmmm...Joe (Chuckster) must have changed his design some. I don't remember him asking if I had a light bar when I ordered mine (as DaBull stated).

Those are really nice lights, Kris. I bought a pair from a member who pulled them off when he sold his Nomad. You'll like them.

Have the same setup only with our Idaho's lowers. Mark and cut one on a band saw. Lay the second one on top of the first and trace. Cut the second. Polish the edges with a dremel tool.

I imagine a jig saw would work too, but haven't tried it that way.

Good luck..

Scott, You can add those lights no problem with the existing large lowers I made ya If you had a tubular F/S lightbar then it would be a different style of cuts on the lowers to fit.

You can use a jigsaw just use a fine tooth blade and go slow. Sand the edge down smoothly then use a blow torch very lightly and i mean very lightly on the cut edge That will give you a more professional look.

DaBull,
That set of driving/spot lights that Netnorske is thinking of. will work with the larger lowers that you are getting for your bike. Very well made lights, have seen them first hand.

There are jigsaw blades with modified teeth made specifically for plastics that work OK. I would recommend padding the foot plate with a couple layers of duct tape to prevent scratches.

A nice touch with the torch, Towering.
