NOMAD ACCESSORIES

FYI to anyone buying the Cobra lightbar that they claim fits the 1700 Nomad as well as the Classic LT. I just attempted to install mine and the signal lights do not clear the lowers. This will not work for a Nomad. Now I have to mess with trying to return an open box item. Ugh!

Dont the signal lights go horizontally on the ends of the light bar? I thought thats how the pictures were. The OEM version the sig lights are sticking down vertically. Can you take a pic of the interference?

No. The signal lights are vertical. I spoke with Cobra and apparently they didn't realize that the Nomad had lowers and thought the 1700 LT and the Nomad would be interchangeable. They are not.

If you want a chrome Wompus rack, order one and ask Wompus not to powdercoat it. He'll ship you one in a bare metal finish and you have to take it to a plater and get it chromed.
a friend of mine has actually used a cobra rack from the 1600 and it fits perfectly, looks good to.
It would probably be a lot cheaper and also easier to get hold of, if you know of somone who already has one on the back of thier 1600 you could try before you buy.

Hope this helps,
Garf

Hi Garf
I contacted Corbra about a rack from the 1600 for the 1700 and here is the response:

We do not have a luggage rack for the 1700 Nomad at this time and the one
for the 1600 will not mount on the 1700. Thanks for asking Cobra, ride safe.

Cheers,
Clyde

I just installed the new engine guard chaps from classic chaps. I am more than pleased with them. I had the pocket put on both sides and it came in handy this morning when I drove to work in the rain. I put my wallet in the pocket so I wouldn't have to fight my way through the rain suit at the pump. Worked like a charm. And more importantly my boots arrived at work bone dry despite spending an hour in the rain at speeds up to 70MPH.

I had my lightbar installed yesterday.. they gave me the F&S when I bought the bike. Only problem is they insisted that it had to be wired in to the headlight circuit.. I told them not to wire it. There are connectors for the auxilliary circuit in the headlight pod. Works pretty good.

I bought the shark radio system for my 09 nomad and it came with the radio and speakers and took about 30 minutes to hook up, and it sounds good also, you can also hook a Ipod up to it. Next I want to get the light bar for it. I got the radio at gooddeals18.com

I contacted Kuryakyn regarding Iso grips, their response was nothing for the VN1700 but just use generic either for 7/8 or 1 inch bars (funny they couldn't specify which size!) Upon checking part numbers with Kawasaki the throttle grip is the same part number as the 1600's So don't believe everything the suppliers are telling you. They just haven't got around to checking
