I wrote elsewhere I was in a Poker Run today. I filled up at Cordes Jct, went to Flagstaff and then to Camp Verde before filling again. 3.900 gals and 188.9 miles That's 48.4 MPG. These were fairly easy miles, about 50 miles on a forest service road with a speed limit of 50. That's the farthest I've ever gone on a tank and the light hadn't even come on yet.

You might have bumped 200 before the light came on. That's darn good. Best I've ever done was 43.7 mpg.

I am running around 38 mpg. Got to figure out how to get better gas mileage.

WOW! The best I've ever had was 40 MPG and that was with Deb on the back. I think it was something call spousal throttle control.

That's really impressive. I've never gotten better than 35. Usually around 32. When I hear about the mileage some of you guys get, I start wondering if there is something wrong with my bike.

C'mon fellas, I don't get 48 MPG consistently, just that one tank today and as I said they were easy miles. I average around 40. I have gotten as high as 50, which I don't specifically remember since it was 2 years ago, but I must have had a hundred miles of 6% down grade or something.

I think I could have made it to 200, but I don't gamble on things like that when it's 30 miles to the next town with a gas station and it's 109 degrees out.

Congratulations on your milestone. I made it over 199 before but I wasn't having any fun at all the last 20 miles.

Speed is not our friend when it comes to gas mileage on a Nomad. My best mileage was also on a poker run a couple weeks ago where the speeds averaged about 50mph as compared to my normal riding at 65~70mph. The slower, side-road speed increased the mileage by a good 30%.

I would have gambled , especially if its only 30 miles. ;)

Well, if the tank is 5.3 gallons, at 48, you'd go way beyond 200. I have broken 200 on the custer trip. The secret is non-ethanol fuel. May be higher altitude makes a difference too. I normally got 36-38 at best in Iowa on gasahol. Whenever I went out of state where there the gas didn't have ethanol, I usually got 41-43.

The worst mileage I get with the Nomad is still better than I would get with the car.

Congratulations Scott, that was great.

Yep, Ponch it makes a big difference. The gas here has no more than 10% ethanol.
