Front Tire

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to put a "fatter" tire on the front of a 2008 1600 nomad? Currently I have a 150/80-16 and was wondering if anything else would fit.

I'm not sure there is a larger front tire available, Nomads come with a pretty large tire as it is. You could install a rear tire on the front if you really want to go bigger.
Whats wrong with the stock size tire?

There is noting wrong with it. Just doing a standard replacement of a worn tire. I went to a larger rear tire last year and was just wondering if a larger tire on the front would improve any handling or anything else.

The rear tire on there now is a 180/70-16, which I was told was the largest you could fit on there without having to change anything.

I think you will make the handling worse with a larger tire on the front.
Heavier steering and harder turns, especially at slow speeds.

Question.
I was thinking that the 1600's had a 130 width on the front. is that not correct?

The classics have that size, but for some reason they installed 150's on the Nomads. Some guys have switched to the 130's as 150's are limited in who makes them.
I think the steering would get even heavier with a larger tire up there.

I wouldn't think a fatter front tire would "improve" your handling.

Since we are on the subject I was wondering if a 130 thats on the classics would make the Nomad handle any better at slow speeds

I read somewhere that a guy put the 130 in place of the 150 and he thought it did.

What would concern me is if the 130 had a lower weight rating than the 150 since a Nomad is a pretty heavy bike. I don't know what the weight ratings are just a thought.

I use a Avon Cobra radial in 150-80R-16 with a CT on the rear and it handles great.

With all that being said, guess Ill stick with the stock size. Kinda got used to the handling of the bike and am fine with its characteristics. Thanks everyone.

A larger front tire will make handling worse. Much harder to turn the bike in slow speeds and much heavier feeling all around even at 40+ miles per hour

I changed my front to a Dunlap 130 and I love it, night and day difference and much easier to control at slow speeds.
