Missing bolt ?

While checking some stuff i saw this open hole next to the crankcase breather hose - front side of the crankcase. Seems like its threaded but there was no bolt - oddly enough i saw some pics of other vulcans (15 and 1600) without the bolt. Is there some purpose for that hole? Cant find it on parts diagrams either? Anyone else have this on thier bikes or know anything about it ? Thanks

I will have to check my 1600 out and see. Could have been used to lift the engine when the bikes were built.

I went to the garage and checked both my 1500 & 1600 motors, they both have that hole there. It must have been put there for something that they changed their plans on.

I used it for an extra grounding strap.

I'm glad that it wasn't a missing bolt - been trying to track down some oil leaks. This couldn't be contributing to a leak right? Think I am gonna put a bolt there anyway

It's probably for an assembly fixture. If I recall, it's a blind hole and no bolt is needed because it can't leak anything.

I was just going to suggest the same thing Scott. They use "holes" like that in the mfg. and assembly lines to "hang on to" the piece.
