2010 Nomad. 5 quarts puts mine about 3/4 up the hash marks. I just check mine after a ride... park it and let it idle a little bit then let is sit a couple mins, then check it with the bike level. Checking it after letting it idle for a long time to warm up checks the same. 4.5 quarts and its alway on the low end of the hash marks. Yes, I always put on one glove... that stick is way to hot to hold!

I always put in the 4.5 qts then warm it up and check it... then always add the rest. Not sure why, it would be easy enough to suck some out with the wife turkey baster... unless she caught me!
