A few tasteful mods
Since buying my Vaquero last September, I have been looking for ways to make it mine............nothing too radical but simple and tasteful to set it apart. My list of mods are as follows:
• Vance & Hines Twin Slash Slip-Ons • Kuryakyn Highway Pegs • Green Led lights (mounted under tank) • Roaring Toys 13” apes • Arlen Ness rear view mirrors • Avon air cushioned grips • Custom Dynamics Plasma Rods (rear run/turn/brake) • Custom Dynamics TruWrapz (front signals) • Kuryakyn laydown plate bracket • Kawasaki iPod adapter Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Hulk,
Very nice. How difficult was the wiring for the handlebars? Did you have to extend it? (I might be trying to copy you. I have the same tag, plasma rods, and pipes) |

Ok Vaquero,
Yes, the wiring for the handlebars had to be extended as well as replacing the clutch and brake lines (clutch and brake lines came with the bars). Being on a tight deadline ended up costing me more money in the long run..............Roaring Toys will extend your wires for an additional $250 but it requires you to remove all of your stock controls and ship them to them and then wait for them to ship the bars back to you which can take about 2-3 weeks. I had a road trip coming up and I could not make that long ride with those uncomfortable stock bars so I bit the bullet and paid a local shop to do the wiring for me which ran me a bit more than the $250 that Roaring Toys would have charged. If you are willing to be without your bike for 2-3 weeks or have the know how to undertake that task yourself then I would let Roaring Toys do the wiring; once you get the bars back from them, it's essentially plug and play (plug in the main wiring harness, bolt the bars on, and you're done).

I have the same bars on my bike and did the wiring myself. If you are decent with a soldering iron extending the wiring is not too bad. These bars are pre-drilled to run the wiring inside the bars. I spent a couple evenings soldering and running the wiring internally. It helps clean up the whole bar area. In my opinion the wiring was the hardest/most time consuming part. None of it is all that difficult. These bars ride great!

Other than looking completely bad-ass, are apes really more comfortable? I understand that it comes down to preference...
