I had a Harley guy pull up next to me at the pumps one day and ask if my nomad was a Victory. To which I said "Nope, it;s a Kawasaki." He took a second look and said "Well, it's not american, but it's got two wheels and you can ride it."

Happens all the time! When someone is obviously ignorant but envious & trying to be complimentary, I'll be appreciative but truthful. I once was envious & uninformed myself. But if they're ignorant AND stupid...I'll go right back at em!

I have two standard answers.. No, it's a Vulcan or no, it's a Nomad. Either answer will get a puzzled look.

I get it a fair amount around here too and they either look disappointed or confused when I say "Now it's a Kawasaki Nomad".
But I actually get a lot more "Nice Bike!!!" I don't worry about them. I have been trying to think of a good Personalized plate that says NOT A HARLEY so I don't have to anymore.

Every once in a while my wife makes me put on a corset and garters, ties me to the bed post and beats my ass with a riding crop. That kinda burns, but satisfies a desire.
If you ever seent, Top Cat you'd think you wouldn't fuss over a parking space with him. Don't tell me what chooglin is, but quit out doing me and go back to doing it. My wife says that, and they point back at ME and say,"Yours Too".

Most people think any motorcycle is a harley because that is all they see on tv and in the media. So take it as a compliment. They are just telling you they like your bike. No insult.

A large portion of the general public thinks all motorcycles are Harleys. Just think how satisfying it is to be able to answer "thank you, why yes, it is a Harley".
