Shipping my bike from VA to IL, suggestions?

Hey everyone! I am ready to ship my bike from Woodbridge, VA (22191) to Milan, IL (61264). I prefer to pay with credit, sooner the better. I am having trouble finding anything under $500. Does anyone know independent haulers that may save me some money? Any ideas are helpful!

It's not good posture for me on long hauls, or I would ride it. Low seat w/ apes = sore after the first few hours.

Make sure that you checkout the reputation of the shipper before you do this. Back in 2007 I shipped my daughters truck from NY to CA and it was damaged. It was a real hassle getting them to pay for it,

Don't know if you are also making the trip, but if so, why not just rent a bike trailer and tow it?

Take a bus ride to VA. Sleep on the bus and ride it back.

I had an ATV shipped from Staten Island, NY to MT for $630. Just a couple yrs ago. They strap and cover your bike with blankets so it doesn't get scratched. Their trailers are specially set up to haul bikes. and have lift gates to load/unload. Otherwise, how do you get your Bike out of a semi trailer??

Take the train or a bus to close to where its at. rent a one way uhaul truck and bring it back to as close as you can and ride it the rest of way home. The train can be real cheap.
