They reduced the height of the pad by 2 inches. Not sure if they did away with any of the fluff. I know goalies wear knee pads under the goalie pads.

I wonder why? We never did back in the day. At least I don't remember it.

Talking about goalie pads, you will see quite a few white pads. I remember hearing that they blend in better with the ice ( except in the crease I guess ) and makes it harder to distinguish between pad and an open spot.

Those pads are all form fitted to each goalie similar to how RDL makes a seat. They're complaing because the pads leave the 5 hole open more.

I don't get some of the guys using white tape on their sticks. I'm no brain surgeon, but I would think a black puck is harder to pick up coming off a stick with black tape.

...Well the black tape might be covering a "steel sickle bar-reinforcement, riveted to the shaft ..?

I'v seen it ..at "home-lake" hockey matches..
