As far as the oil goes, the reason I hear that we needed mid-east oil is that we used up our reserved for WWII. It was a real cost. I wouldn't excuse our foreign policy though...As far as Israel goes, they are the one diamond in a cesspool over there.
I am not rooting for them at all, but by most account's they are a lot closer to disregarding the Dollar than you might think. Both of our countries have some pretty shameful history regard's human right's too. And you are right about the cost of WW2, America saved the day, no question, but it must have done ok out of it to flourish like it did afterward's, and so it should. Israel is the only democratic nation in that region that's for sure, and part of the reason that the rest of them despise it so much is it's affiliation to America, and a fair bit of jealousy.

And our only friend on that side of the world and we have pissed on them the last 6 years while appoligizing to everyone else. How's that been working? I have realized that some people (Countries) only respect one thing ... a fist, otherwise you are considered weak. That's how the Middle east works.

Doesn't matter if America saved the day or not, we used up most of our oil reserves and it would be a long time before we had the technology to get oil from rock. To look at it another way, the US was still a manufacturing country and needed the oil just as china does now. The difference is that now we don't manufacture nearly as much and our oil is used for transportation and heat. The problem China faces now is logistics and their own economy rising, which will make less profitable to do business there and eventually, not profitable at all.

Amen and TR understood that implicitly. We could use hime now…Our current CIC is the polar opposite. He's the kid that had his lunch money stolen every day and the only way he could get back was by peeing in the water fountain, the passive aggressive little shit. The guy is worthless.

The way I see it allot of people in "power" are born on third base and think they hit a triple. That baseball metaphor may be lost on our neighbors across the pond but it hits home here. (I know another metaphor.)

Some apply that to all us whities and call it white privilege. I'm still trying to figure out where second base is.

Charlie ask him if all the most wealthy, are crooks...to keep him self from "an accident" he said, "You can bet that behind every great fortune..lies a great crime !"
