That all depends on what brand of oil you're using.

What they said. Know from experience. My battery wasn't very old either, but still bad. Replaced battery with new YUASA and couldn't be happier.

With some drool rolling down from the edge of his chin, while he spied the condition his sister was in.

Yes, battery. I just did that whole thing. BTW, running the engine for 5 or 10 minutes is not doing it any favors. Without getting the engine and oil up to temp, you're better off just letting it sit with a smart charger 'cause you're doing more damage in the initial start up than is worth with a very short run time. I used to have sailboats, and this topic is obsessively discussed in forums.

How do you get the engine and the oil in it up to running temperature without running the engine. Does your smart charger have a dipstick heater on it ??

I've seen that happen, and other strange behaviors caused by low voltages. If any of your relays don't get the current they expect it won't switch on the downline components. When my headlight went out last spring it ended up being from a weak stator even though the bike started and ran fine.

Take your battery in to an auto parts store and have it load tested. After fully charging it first... That will tell you if it's the battery.

The battery tender is used to keep your battery charged not to charge your battery. You should have a fully charged battery when you put the battery tender on and leave it on until you're going to ride.

That's not true. You should read this:

I use that battery tender and can tell you from experience that it will not charge a battery that has been left unattended for a winter season.

Uhh.... The battery tender " IS" a trickle "charger". Means it will charge your battery but depending on the amps/mamps it may take a good while. If it did not charge your battery then either the tender or the battery was defective.
