Vaquero engine temp. used to my advantage
So I noticed how the temperature varies from summer days running way up 3/4 on the gauge to a 50 degree day running 1/4 on the gauge. This morning was a cool 49 degrees chilled riding weather so I painted a piece of cardboard black and covered bottom front half of radiator like truckers do on diesels bringing temp up halfway on my gauge at highway speeds and man did it make for a warmer ride along with the crash bar chaps and 16'' windshield. Also if by any chance day warmed and so did engine its a 30 second job to remove and roll on down the road. I did have to cut a u shape vertical down center so fan air could blow on through to warm me up.

COOL...I mean good idea!!!
There is such a thing as an engine runnin too cool. Back in my drag racin days it was important to crank up the engine at the appropriate time to get that engine warmed up. Couldn't be too hot. Heat from combustion is a major player in producing power, and an engine with cylinders/pistons/heads not hot enuff will rob heat from the combustion process thus reducing power. I always make a few runs on my dyno to warm everything up b4 I perform a run that is recorded. RACNRAY

It still needs some fine tuning front cylinder is running 160ish and rear 180ish according to my temp gun. fan cycles off for 4-5 minutes idling sitting still and I now have 2/3 covered with 2 inch gap running down middle vertically and outside temp is lower 50's to low 60's during daytime the old 650 Polaris pwc's had a inline 170 thermostat update because they ran too cold and like crap. I wondered if Kawasaki made these run cold because of people complaining about engine heat in summer?
