Guys, on that plastic oil gear; this is the first time I've heard of it. Does my 07 1600 have a plastic gear?
It never hurts to go inside and take a look!

I had a friend with a 99 or 2000 classic and a plastic gear. The dealer even looked it up and it said his bike had the steel gear. when they tore it down, it was plastic. They thought the oil pump had gone out. My 99 nomads plastic gear went out, but was covered by the factory. Think it had around 30 thousand on it at the time. Started using oil after that, so have new rings put in if engine is tore down. Just my experience!!
