Reckless fairing wiring issues

I bought a Reckless fairing for my '08 Nomad, and thought I'd get it installed today, with the lousy weather outside and all. The mounting was fairly straight forward, and I've got the wiring harness under the tank to the battery location.

But here's my problem: The installation instructions say where to run the black, white, and green wire. One each to ground, positive, and ignition. (Not necessarily in that order)

But the harness I have has a red, yellow, and green. Red had a label on it as "negative". But green and yellow were taped together with one hard-to-read label that says "positive". That's it. And if both of these for some reason go to positive, why is there only one in-line fuse supplied?

Can anyone please help me get this figured out today?

Starting to wonder about Reckless. First they shipped me a red/gold fairing when my paperwork stated Ebony both front and back.

And how hard it is to make your wiring harness match the wiring diagram?

Thanks for the help!

I would call Reckless and confirm the wiring. However, if you have an ohm meter, you can figure out which one is ground, then the other 2 wires will be power. The 2 power wires will be 1 for memory which should be constant and 1 for power from ignition source. Good luck.

The red wire is marked Battery - Negative. Does this need to go to the battery, or can it ground to the frame?

That makes the other two green and yellow wires positive. So I hooked up the inline fuse to the positive terminal of the battery, connected the green wire to the fuse, held the red/ground wire against the frame, and the radio comes on with the ignition off. I switched the green with the yellow, and the same thing happens. Shouldn't whichever wire is the ignition wire keep the radio from turning on instantly, if the other positive wire isn't hooked up?

What am I missing here??

I installed a fuse block so all my acc. go thru it real nice has a relay http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Wi...fuseboxes.html
you hook up your hot wire and ground and switch to it and from there on what ever you put on your bike is simple

That would be a really good idea, Tom. If I get to adding more accessories I'll keep that in mind. But is there anyone out there with a Reckless that can answer my previous questions? I'd really like to get this thing done tonight.......

Which every is the ignition switched wire should power up the radio/ sound side. the one that is constantly hot will send power to the radio but just for the memory.
I have a feeling that if you trace the wires back to the radio, that the yellow and green are hooked together to two wires from the radio. You will need to separate them and then test it again to figure out which is which.

Exactly, separate the 2 wires. 1 will go to the "+" of battery and the other 1 will go to an ignition source. I have mine wired to a relay.

Don't really want to tear the fairing apart. Guess I'll have to wait till I can call them...

When I got mine they were labeled, hot, ground, and trigger. I'm not sure what color they were. I could pull my seat off and see if there the same. I'm sure your not a happy camper about now.

Thanks for the info Framer. I've shut it down for the evening, and will just call them Monday to be sure. Where did you hook your trigger wire?
