Fort Mac

I'm wondering how Bdog is doing and hoping his place is safe. I'm sure we can all agree even if it's a small thing the right thing to do is help out.

I thought about John this morning. It had skipped my mind that he had moved from Boyle to Fort Mac a couple years ago.

I sent him an email this morning but no reply yet. I hope he's in a safe place and his home is not in one of the neighborhoods that is badly affected.

I wondered if there were any members in the area.
Good luck to everyone up there.

Only fortunate thing about this is it is not near the oil fields. Prayers for everyone.

So I am watching CBC news with live reports on the fire and a video loop in the background showing different scenes of the evacuation and there is a clip of a guy on what looks to be a red Nomad cutting across front lawns to bypass traffic stuck on the street.

Bdog is OKay!

I received a response to my email. Bdog says:

"I'm doing okay for now. Not sure if the house is still standing or not and have been evacuated twice now. Flew to calgary. .rented a car with girlfriend and drove to Walmart..bought clothes and stuff. We don't know what to do and have lots of people who are there for us. We decided to take a road trip and regroup"

Good to hear that they are okay. I bet it's tough not knowing whether he has a home to go back to or what kind of condition it is in. I am sure that we all wish the best possible outcome for him.

Good to hear he is doing OK. Possessions can be replaced but a life can't.

Good to hear Bdog is ok. I've been watching news from Edmonton the last few nights, seems some neighbourhoods are left untouched while others are decimated. Hope his is one of the spared ones.

The news here said that the fire is the equivalent of half of the Black Hills having burned and the other half threatened. That's a whole lot of territory..............wishing everyone all the best.

It's going to be very hard on the residents and businesses in that area for many years. Alberta and Canadians all over have supported people in turmoil. Red Cross is taking donations and all levels of government are equaling dollars donated.
We need rain badly. Here's hoping it does.

Last night watching this on the news, they said it was windy and could double in size OVERNIGHT! We've had a few really big fires here in the 17 years we've lived here, some so big they couldn't get a handle on them until the monsoon storms hit.

The weather has been a little cooler here yesterday and today so it has slowed down the fire, but we still need a lot of rain. Not just in the Fort Mac area but just about anywhere in Alberta.
