can I see pics of splicing into taillight wires
Anyone got a couple pics of the best way to splice into the taillight wires for a switched accesory. I'm trying to do a clean install was going to use scotchlock connectors but I don't really like those for a good connection. Thanks for any info.

No pictures, but the Posi-Locks would be a good second choice, my first choice would be to solder and use heat shrink tubing.

Posi Loks are ok and do work but splicing a 1/2" of insulation and soldering like Cliff says is the best permanent solution. Posi Loks can fail after a period of time.

What RAD said! What I normally do is cut the wire then adding a short pigtail, I solder it, sealing it with a nice long piece of heatshrink tubing. On the pigtail, I put weatherproof plug, so you can make a good solid weatherproof connection.
Doesn't take any longer to do a quality, professional job than it does to replace a corroded scotchloc later down the road. That pigtail will last as long as the origional harness will. Suck it up and Ride!

I like what DragonLady said. Nice sanitary approach to the problem...
I've also used a small pigtail that I've made up for locations where you need to splice/add a connection to a bullet style connector. The connectors are readily available at O'Reily http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...0215/C0189.oap Splice 2 piece's of wire to the new male connector, leave yourself about 6" of wire and splice a female connector on the end of each wire. Install it in the harness and wire tie everything down nice and clean. It makes as waterproof and vibration free connection as the stock one. Good luck with your project.
