How difficult is a KAMS installation?

I've been looking at 2012 and newer Voyagers because they come with KAMS, but am aware that for $400 they can be retrofitted onto 2009-2011 VN1700s. Has anyone done this themselves, and if so, how difficult was it? Any special tools or fabrication needed? Also, is KAMS a factor to consider when getting Ivan's ECU flash done? It doesn't seem like it would be, but figure it doesn't hurt to ask.

I still prefer to find a Voyager that already has KAMS, but I love some of the pre-2012 color schemes. So if a real cherry low mileage older Voyager came up for a good price, I'd hate to just dismiss it if installing KAMS isn't a big deal.

I just ask this last week on a bike I was looking at. For the same reason. Read this post.

Needless to say the bike got sold, but it also didn't have the abs brake system. So you have to watch the older ones if you want that, as it was a option.

Thanks. So it looks like I could PM Peg about KAMS installation if necessary. And K-ACT ABS is definitely a must-have too, but I've seen a fair number of '09-'11 models with it which makes one of those years feasible for me if it also has low miles.

Thanks JD - that helps a lot! On a scale of 1-5 difficulty with 5 being the most difficult, looks like about a 2-3 to me, depending on ease of access and how much dexterity is required.

Interesting - the instructions say you can purchase just the rear kit but I think I'd want the full kit if I needed it.
