New member with a significant upgrade

Hello all. I recently went from a very easy to ride 1982 Yamaha Xj750J to a 2005 Kawasaki vulcan Nomad 1600. There is just no comparison. I am trying to learn all. I can about the bike. The first thing I learned is that I need work on slow speed maneuvers. This does not handle like the Xj750. After tipping the bike at a near stop, while turning (twice - parking lot and driveway, both on the same day), I realize I need some practice on the basics. But I will get there. I am anxious to learn more about this bike and make the most of it.

Welcome from Osceola, WI
When doing slow speed turns stay off the front brake, it will put you down before you knew what happened.

Greetings,
Slow speed maneuvering is something I practice each spring. There is large parking lot near me. I practices weaves, figure 8's, u-turns in the box, etc. These are heavy bikes and at slow speeds that weight is more evident.

Lightcs1776 ; Excellent and kudos to you that you are aware of the need for these skills and practice!

Enjoy and ride safe,
Smokier

Welcome aboard from Georgia, yes the weight does take some "getting used to".
