accessory switch/emergency flashers?

I am just trying to figure out how to use the emergency flashers on my 2012 nomad. I stopped in the middle of a country road(very very little traffic) to save a wounded bird in the street. Put emergency flashers on with bike running, all was good. I then shut off bike and tried to use flashers, nothing happened, so I assumed switching to accessory switch would put flashers on with bike not running. All of a sudden every light on the instrument panel was flashing, the speedometer needle was moving back and forth, cooling fan was turning on and off. Once I shut off the flashers everything was off again on accessory. I ended up just starting the bike again and leaving it run with flashers on until I moved the bird off the road. Weird question, but any ideas? Thanks.

If I have my bike turned off and turn on ACC only it will work the emergency flashers only. I didn't try with your method though.

You probably put the ECU into diagnostic mode by accident....there are certain modes you can go into by turning the switch on/off multiple times and turning certain switch positions on on certain things, to test stuff, read codes and do diagnostic work on the newer bikes....

Im still not sure what is going on. I put in accessory position then tried flashers, I tried flashers first then put in accessory position, still does the same thing. All lights flash, speedometer needle goes up and down, fan goes on and off. Weird. Its not like I use it everyday, but would like to know that it works when I do need to use it.

Are you running stock light bulbs for your turn signals?

The bike does have aftermarket spotlights with turn signals underneath the spotlights. They were on the bike when I purchased it.
