Tank Bra
Thinking about putting a tank bra on my '01 Nomad. Had one on a sports car I owned, but never a bike. Would like pros and cons from anyone that's had experience with them ON BIKES, and only from those with experience please. Nothing personal, but not looking for opinions, just comments from experience.
Thanks and ride safe if you can still get out! Login or Register to Remove Ads |

1. Helps with glare off that shiny tank.
2. Helps when your sitting at a interstate toll gate, put your stuff on to keep it from falling off while digging for change.... 3. Helps with sitting things up before riding off without screwing up your paint job. Can sit your cell phone down, keys, other stuff on it without it sliding on that slick pretty paint, before your ride, at gas stations, traffic stops, etc.... I place my Octane Booster on there while filling up... 4. Mine has a pocket between the speedo and myself that I keep the registration in while I'm riding. After riding, it goes into my secure tube.... 5. Keeps track of Items I need going down the road, should I need them, like meds.... 6. Just plain looks cool.... https://www.chilhowee.net/motorcycle...bibs-main.html https://www.sagebrushdesigns.com/tank_bib.html

DL, I'm talking about a bra, not the bib like you have. Bra's fit around the lower end of the tank and protect it from legs rubbing and also buckles....like when you lean over to reach the damn key.
Thanks |

I have the sagebrush engine guard covers. They do nice work and in the link above looks like they could put a pocket on the bra. They will work with you on these things. You will need a paypal account to purchase from them.

To protect my paintjob. About the 1st 4 or 5 inches of the tank were covered, then it swooped in toward the dash, then went under the dash with a 4" wide piece. It had leather lacing around the sides, had a concho on the pocket....in reality mine was a combo Bra and Bib.... Reason why I ran it was the paint of my bike was 'soft', wash it good some paint would come off on the rag. I put that on it to help with the paint wear. Finally took my tanks down to a real professional to do.... The other guy knew what he was doing....either he did something wrong, or bad paint....but it was 'soft'.... My frame was powder coated gloss black, trans/engine case/rocker boxes satin black, barrels/oiltank wrinkle black, tins were hotrod flat black.... Only chrome was aircleaner, open primary pulleys, All fasteners were polished SS allenheads or SS nuts/bolts/washers/lockwashers & kickstand. Rims were powdercoated red, hubs were black, oversize SS spokes....black wrapped pipes. The bra looked good on the bike....I siliconed it down to the tank cause it'd lift some around the edges towards to bra section.... Rode the ole gal damn near 30 years, only left me stranded about 4 times....got too old and tired to wear kidney belts....she rode kinda ruff, vibrated around town, typical old harley dresser stuff, rode like a big ole land yacht.... Like this, but for a ElectraGlide.... https://www.sagebrushdesigns.com/ima...hale-tail2.jpg

My bra was great. It helped hide some scratches and prevented new ones.
Marine grade vinyl, inexpensive, soft back lining. Don't remember where I bought it. Also had a pocket for misc (phone, notes, docs, ear plugs, etc.). Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
